Backstory: The Birth of AI Culinary Coach
As a food enthusiast with no formal culinary training, I’ve always had a passion for cooking. My goal is to create delicious meals that bring joy to others. There’s something magical about sharing food and seeing the delight on someone’s face when they taste something truly special. My love for cooking often led me to experiment with recipes I discovered on social media. However, I started noticing a trend. Many of these recipes were shared by people pretending they created the dish, often accompanied by perfectly plated AI-generated images.
The Realization and Initial Idea
As an AI chatbot builder by profession, I recognized the telltale signs and realized these so-called “authentic” recipes were nothing more than AI creations. This realization struck a chord with me. I thought, if people are captivated by AI-generated recipes and images, why not create an AI bot? A website that offers transparency would be the perfect complement. It would provide detailed, easy-to-follow recipes. The goal was clear: to inform people that these recipes are AI-generated by the AI Culinary Coach and show them how to recreate the dishes with matching AI images. I was confident in my ability to build this bot. Since March 2023, I had been experimenting with AI and recipe creation. I used AI assistants to perfect recipes, offer cooking tips, time dishes, suggest pairings, and provide nutritional information.
Developing AI Culinary Coach Chef Grace
The first iteration of the AI Culinary Coach, now known as “AI Culinary Coach Chef Grace,” started with a simple idea: what if there was an easier way to recreate the dishes I loved? One night, after dining at a favorite restaurant, I was determined to replicate a dish for my significant other—delicious fish tacos that needed some improvement. I took a picture of the ingredients on the menu to upload the recipe so I could use my AI bot to recreate it at home, gave it a bit of a twist from what was normally made at the restaurant, and tweaked the recipe to perfection. I saved the recipe it generated and made it for her a few weeks later. It was absolutely delicious.
Experimenting with Image-Based Recipes
My next experiment was exciting—I wanted to see if I could create a recipe from a simple image. I took a picture of some ingredients I had on hand—peanut butter, maple syrup, and oats—and asked the AI Culinary Coach to create a healthy, high-density snack. The result? A recipe for no-bake cookies that sounded delicious. But I wanted to take it a step further. I gathered additional ingredients from my pantry—chia seeds, flax seeds, vanilla extract, cinnamon, granola, and honey—and arranged them where the camera could capture all the labels. I took a picture of those ingredients, uploaded the image to the AI Culinary Coach, and asked it to integrate them into the recipe. Within a minute, I had a masterchef-level recipe that I couldn’t wait to try.
The Health-Conscious Approach
As someone who is health-conscious, I needed to know the exact calorie count, macros (carbohydrates, fats, proteins), and micronutrient density of each cookie. I asked the AI Culinary Coach to break down the nutrition per gram, allowing me to weigh each cookie ball accurately. The precision of the information blew me away. I double-checked the data against my research as a certified health coach. To my delight, everything was spot on. I knew I had created something special.
Sharing with a Friend
Excited about my discovery, I shared the AI Culinary Coach with a friend who also loves to cook. He put it to the test by creating a complex masterchef recipe. The AI Culinary Coach guided him through every step—telling him when to start each dish, when to check on them, and even setting specific timers on his phone. The results were incredible, both in terms of taste and the efficiency of the process.
Introducing Food Pairing Suggestions
One of the most impressive recent features I developed was the food pairing suggestions. I’ve always admired chefs who can explain why certain dishes complement each other so well. So, I programmed the AI Culinary Coach to offer three appetizers, three side dishes, three desserts, and three drinks for each main dish, complete with explanations of why these pairings work. This feature has been a game-changer, allowing anyone to learn about food pairings in-depth and create cohesive, restaurant-quality meals at home.
Chef No Bull: A New Personality
Finally, I introduced a new personality to the AI Culinary Coach—a no-nonsense, witty, and humorous version named “AI Culinary Coach Chef No Bull.” This coach delivers advice with tough love, using straightforward language, and occasionally a bit of colorful language, all in the name of making you a better chef.
Empowering Amateur Cooks
My ultimate goal with the AI Culinary Coach is to empower even the most amateur cooks to learn how to cook step by step. Whether you want to take a quick snapshot of your pantry and fridge to brainstorm meal ideas, or need detailed guidance on mastering a complex dish, our AI Culinary Coaches are designed to be your go-to masterchefs in your pocket. Chef Grace and Chef No Bull are designed to personalize each conversation, be interactive, and always ready to help you create something amazing in the kitchen.
